Lorena Brown

Lorena Brown, age 94 of Gainesville, went to meet her Lord on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at her residence following a sudden illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 20, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Mountain View Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. Reverend Scott Wilson and Reverend Bobby Brown will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 5 - 8 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown was born January 3, 1919 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Benjamin Alfred Smith and Essie Lowe Smith. She was retired from Barry Manufacturing as a Seamstress. Mrs. Brown was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church, where at the time of her death she was the oldest living member. Lorena and her late husband, Bill loved nothing more than having their Ministers over for Sunday Lunch after Church. She loved her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were all a great part of her life. Lorena was the last surviving member of immediate family and was preceded in death by her husband, William A. "Bill" Brown and her great-grandson, Jeremy Wehunt. Although our hearts are very saddened, we celebrate the wonderful, full life she lived and loved, and the legacy she left in all of us. What a celebration there must have been in the streets of heaven upon her arrival.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Ann & Bobby Harbin of Gainesville, daughter, Dr. Jan Brown of Oakwood, son & daughter-in-law, Lt. Col. Jerry & Janie Brown of Gainesville, grandchildren, Amy & Jimmy Wehunt of Oakwood, SSG Douglas Brown of Ft. LeonardWood, Missouri, Julie & John McNeal of Gainesville, Russ & Tiffany Harbin of Lawrenceville and Jason & Christine Brown of Gainesville, great-grandchildren, Jorden Wehunt, Dalton Wehunt, Hunter Brown and Josiah McNeal, sister-in-law, Jennie Smith of Gainesville and several nieces & nephews.
