Eugene Talmadge Chamblee

Eugene Talmadge Chamblee, 77, of Clayton, GA passed away Monday, December 30, 2013.



He was born in Rabun County and was the son of the late Lester Verdo and Belle Welborn Chamblee.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Horace Chamblee and Fred Chamblee; and two sisters, Lelia Gritzke and Lorenne Chamblee. Gene is survived by his wife, Katherine Asherbranner, a son, Jesse Chamblee; three daughters, Debra Coalley and her husband Ricky of Tiger, GA, Janet Benfield and her husband John of Clayton, GA, and Lynn Wiekle and her husband George of Franklin, NC; one brother, R.E. Chamblee of Clayton, GA; and one sister, Lois Trotter of Clarkesville, GA. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.



Gene worked for Burlington Industries and for the City of Clayton. He attended Battle Branch Baptist Church and enjoyed family gatherings, walking, cooking out, and wrestling. Gene was a friend to all that knew him.



The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, December 31, 2013 and services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, January 1, 2014 in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Madison McCrackin and Rev. Bill Trotter officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
