Jesse Dean Davis

Mr. Jesse Dean Davis, age 86, of Gainesville, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend John Eldridge, Reverend Robert Kersh and Reverend Kenneth Lark will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Davis was born on May 09, 1927 in Toccoa, Georgia to the late James Davis and Dora Whitmore Stewart. He was owner and operator machinist/ gunsmith for Davis Chainsaw and Gunshop. He worked for over 40 years, during which he invented several small engine components, and after retiring he still worked and stayed active in his shop. He was an ordinance specialist in the Navy and served in World War II. He was an active member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church until his health prevented him from going. He was an avid bird hunter and trout fisherman and also raised field trial dogs. He was a charter member and former president of Cherokee Gun Club. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Neva Nadine Fields Davis, daughter, Patricia June Elliott Stryk.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Randall J.R. and Gayle Davis of Flowery Branch, son, Michael Anthony Davis of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, Jessie Lynn and Charles Lovell of Gainesville, granddaughter and husband, Dana and Rodney Clark, granddaughter, Dee Ann Davis, grandson, Randy Davis, grandson, Jason Lovell, grandson, Clayton Lovell, granddaughter and husband, Kimberly and Shane Nicholson, grandson and wife, Keith and Christy Elliott, grandson, Kevin Elliott, great-grandchildren, Robby Poole, Megan Poole Chase Nicholson, Bailey Hooper, Kayla Elliott, Gavin Elliott, Tristan Elliott, Amberly Mullinax, Tori Mullinax, great-great grandson, Grayson Elliott.
