Mr. Roy R. Swansey, 84, of Flowery Branch passed away on January 24, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents Cleve and Lena Martin Swansey, sisters Effie Swansey, Fannie Pierce and Thelma Watson, brothers W.D. Swansey and Boyd Swansey. He is survived by is wife of fifty-nine years, Ruth Parker Swansey; brother Aaron and Ann Swansey, Flowery Branch, GA; brother in law Paul Watson, Flowery Branch, GA; sisters in law Pat Campbell Parker, Flowery Branch, GA and Helen Queen Parker, Oakwood, GA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Swansey was born November 23, 1929 in Buford, GA. He received his education at Flowery Branch School. He was a retired Emission Inspector from Jerry Brown Chevrolet with over ten years of service. Mr. Swansey had also worked for Ashland Chemical Company. He was a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church in Flowery Branch, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Wade and Rev. Clyde Self officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Salem Baptist Church 6152 Mt.
