Franklin J. Glore

Franklin J. Glore, age 70, of Mt. Airy, Georgia passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014.

Mr. Glore was born on August 18, 1943 in Mableton, Georgia; son of the late Rev. E.W. and Ollie Mae Queen Glore. He was also preceded in death by his step-son, Michael Stancil; sister, Jane Sewell, and brother, Willie R. "Bill" Glore. Mr. Glore was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and a member of the Adult Men's III Sunday School Class. He is also a member of the Clarkesville Masonic Lodge #325 F. & A.M., and Royal Arch, where he was very active. Mr. Glore was the former Police Chief for a number of years with the City of Cornelia, a former police officer with the City of Clarkesville and was a retired Deputy Sheriff with the Stephens County Sheriff Department. He loved gospel and country music.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years Mary L. Glore, Mt. Airy; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Gina and Herbert Owen Jr., Baldwin; brother and sister-in-law, Robert S. "Bob" and Ramona Glore, Toccoa; grandchildren, Brian Owen, Brandi and Kyle Wilbanks, all of Mt. Airy; great-grandchildren, Owen Wilbanks and Emory Wilbanks, both of Mt. Airy; caregivers, LeLanda Davis, Terri Parr, Daniel Kellar and Jimmy Wheeler.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Brian Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Monday, January 27, 2014.
