George Dewey Coker

Mr. George Dewey Coker, age 88 of 1295 GA Highway 184 North, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A son of the late Nathaniel Auther and Eula Westbrooks Coker, he was born October 8, 1925 in Banks County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran, retired from Wright Manufacturing and later owned and operated Coker's Garage for a number of years, a member of Nails Creek Baptist Church, a Deacon and member of the Men's Sunday School Class. He was a life member of the VFW Post 4346, a member of the Stephens County Cattlemen's Association, the Stephens County Young Farmers Association and the Stephens County Farmers Market. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dwayne, Argene and Clyde Coker.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Lucille Roberts Coker; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Dana Coker of Toccoa; two granddaughters, Sierra and Brianna Coker; brother, Travis Coker of Lilburn, Georgia; three sisters, Francine Payne of Atlanta, Georgia, Bernice Partin and Mary Ann Kitchens both of Grayson, Georgia; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 31, 2 O'clock PM at Nails Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Duane Eller, the Reverend Frank Sailers and the Reverend John King officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Rex Coker, Steve Coker, Alan Coker, Larry Logan, Don Mealor and Wayne Holloway.

The family will be at the home on Highway 184 and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Interment will be in the Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the VFW Post 4346 and the Georgia National Guard Honor Guard. Acree-Davis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. George Dewey Coker.
