Mary Vayoma Matthews

Mary Vayoma Matthews, 85, of Lynn Haven, Florida passed away Friday February 14, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Dawsonville following a period of declining health.

Born July 18, 1928 in Dunham, Kentucky to the late Nevie and Ena Collier, she lived in Lynn Haven for 40 years and had been spending time with her family in Maryland and Dawsonville. Mrs. Matthews was a member of the Lynn Haven Church of Christ and was also preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Matthews; son, Darrell Matthews; and a number of sisters and brothers.

Surviving are her children, Bonita and Chino Diaz, Jarrettsville, Maryland, Douglas Matthews, Florida, David and Sandy Matthews, Boonsboro, Maryland, Belinda Mantz and Kathy Kohles, Dawsonville; nine grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; special niece, Pat Cox, Wise, Virginia; brothers and sister in law, Paul and Thelma Collier, Jenkins, Kentucky, Vernal Collier, Wise, Virginia.

Funeral services will be held Monday February 17, 2014 at 6 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4 until 6 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Etowah River Church of Christ in Dawsonville.
