Obituary Date: Saturday, February 22, 2014

Surrounded by her family, Nancy Esarey Martin, of Cumming, GA passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the age of 75 after a long illness. She was born in Decker Chapel, IN. She was married to her loving husband of 51 years, Jack Martin, on May 13, 1962. After a two year stay in Belleville, IL, they set roots in St. Louis, MO, to raise their 3 children. After Jack's retirement in 1987 they moved to Florida for several years, and later settled in Cumming to be closer to their kids, grandkids, and extended family, who had all since moved to Cumming. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Gerald Elvin and Margaret Irene (Fisher) Esarey.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Jackie Warren Martin and her three children and their spouses; Beth Martin DeSousa and her husband Kevin DeSousa of Cumming, GA; her son, Jerry Martin and his wife Jackie Gibson Martin of Cumming, GA; and her daughter, Kelly Martin Starling and her husband Eric Starling of Cumming, GA; and her 7 grandchildren, Leah Kathryn and Troy Michael Martin, Emily Grace, Jackson Richard, and Claire Elizabeth Starling, Katherine Layne Emerson and Amanda Paige DeSousa.
She is also survived by her Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law, Robert and Barbara Martin, and her Uncle Eddie Fisher, of Vincennes, IN.
After graduating from nursing school in Vincennes, IN, Nancy lived a life of service to others at various hospitals in Missouri and Florida. She loved the area of geriatrics and after she retired from regular nursing she got the job of a lifetime spearheading the creation of the CNA training program at a Ridge Community College in Winter Haven, FL. She loved people and everyone she touched loved her.
In addition, Nancy was a lover of 4-part harmony and was a member of Sweet Adelines for more than 30 years. In 1994, her chorus, "The Toast of Tampa" won the Sweet Adeline international competition. She enjoyed this passion alongside her husband, who continues to be a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society since 1970.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to The Villas at Canterfield retirement community in Cumming GA, for their loving care during Mom's last months with us.
