Blake Nix, 51 of Gainesville died Sunday February 23, 2014.
Born in Atlanta Georgia, June 26, 1962, Blake was the son of the late Ralph D. and Marquita Nix . He had lived in Gainesville since 1974 and was a graduate of North Hall High School, class of 1981. He was a member of the Gainesville High School State Championship Baseball Team of 1978 and attended Piedmont College on a baseball scholarship. Blake was retired from Duplicating Products where he worked as the Warehouse Manager. Blake was a member of the First Baptist Church on Green Street.
Blake was an avid follower of North Hall High School football and University of Georgia Football. He also loved playing golf with his many golf groups and golf partners.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law; Matt and Becky Nix, sisters and brothers-in-law, Amber and Chris Carter, Amy and Jon Pope, all of Gainesville; half sister and husband, Pam and Bill Cole, Atlanta; nieces and nephews, Cree and Witt Nix; Thomas, Matthew, and Sam Carter; Andrew and Caroline Pope, all of Gainesville, Patrick Cole, Atlanta and Christen York, Tifton.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday February 27, 2014 in the chapel of the First Baptist Church on Green Street. The Rev. Dr. Bill Coates will officiate. The family will receive friends in the lobby of the church banquet hall after the service.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, 751 Green Street, Gainesville, Georgia 30501 in memory of Blake.
