Janette Wayne Whitmire

Janette "Jan" Wayne Whitmire, age 74 of Gainesville, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Stacey Phillips and Reverend Clark Stubbs will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 6 - 8 pm and Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.


Mrs. Whitmire was born June 27, 1939 in Flowery Branch, Georgia to the late Jewell Wayne and Eula Davidson Jones Wayne. She was a 1957 graduate of Gainesville High School, attended IBM School and took classes in computer programming at Lanier Tech. Janette retired from Northeast Georgia Medical Center as a payroll clerk and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of Joy Sunday School Class at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, was an Eastern Star and member of Lanier Shrinettes. Janette was an avid bowler for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Jimmie Gibbs and Dorothy Workman, her brothers, Gene Jones, Reverend Sam Jones, Bill Jones and J. W. Wayne, her brother-in-law, James Whitmire and her nephew, Art Jetton.


Mrs. Whitmire is survived by her husband of 54 years, Wayne Whitmire of Gainesville, daughter, Cindy Whitmire of Gainesville, brother & sister-in-law, Doug & Linda Wayne of Tiger, Georgia, sister, Bobbie Ledford of Gainesville, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Jeanette & John Kesler of Gainesville, sister-in-law, Gloria Whitmire of Gainesville and a number of nieces and nephews.
