Bruce Wynne Crocker

Obituary Date: Sunday, March 2, 2014

Bruce Wynne Crocker, age 56, of Columbia, SC, passed away Sunday morning, March 2, 2014. His life's journey ended way too soon from Stage 4 Cancer. His passing was peaceful and for that the family is grateful.

He was born April 9, 1957, in Sumter, SC to Billie Crocker and the late Julius Crocker. He was a graduate of Spring Valley High School in 1974, and attended Anderson Junior College. He was a member of the "Big Chill" Group, which consists of friends from Spring Valley High School and North Trenholm Baptist Church. Bruce, like his father, Julius, never met a stranger and he had a smile that was larger than life. He was once told he would be happy even if he lived in a double wide, and the irony was, he would have. What mattered most to Bruce was the family like relationship he enjoyed with so many people. He was never known to be a very materialistic person, but left this world with the greatest possession any one could have; "Eternal Life."

He served in the United States Air Force Reserve for 6 years as a Jet Engine Tech & LoadMaster. The majority of his life he spent as an over-the-road trucker. However, within the last two years of his life he was a Salesman with Authorized Commercial Equipment Company, which sells and services Commercial Restaurant Equipment in the Carolinas.

He is survived by a son, Dylan Reid Crocker, of Jefferson, GA; his mother, Billie Crocker of Jefferson, GA; a brother, David (Leslie) of Lexington, SC; and a sister, Lynne Phariss (Richard) of Jefferson, GA, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Rd. Lexington, SC 29072.
Visitation will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
To honor the life of our brother Bruce Crocker, we would ask in lieu of flowers, cards or gifts, donations be made in his honor to the "Above & Beyond Campaign" at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Rd., Lexington, SC 29072. 803-359-3495
