Doris Annie Millwood

Mrs. Doris Annie Millwood, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 4. She passed from the hands of her children to the hands of her loving Savior.



She was greatly loved and respected by all she met. She was famous for her faith in God, her kindness, and her BISCUITS. Her grandchildren knew that Granny always kept biscuits in the bottom drawer of the stove and sweet tea in the refrigerator. They knew no permission was needed. The grandchildren passed this tradition on to the great-grandchildren. No one, strangers, family nor friends, would leave her house hungry unless they chose to.



She was born in Forsyth County in the Oscarville community. She still lived on family land that had been in her family for four generations. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Millwood; parents, Royston and Pearl Smith, step-father M.L. Cash; sisters, Grace Bennett, Blanche Castleberry, and Essie Mathis.



She is survived by children, Marshall and Joyce Millwood, Lane and Janet Millwood, and Larry and Donna Waters; grandchildren, Michael and Becky Millwood, Todd and Beth Skinner, Mark and Kerry Millwood, Amy Millwood, Hannah Millwood, Larry and Christy Waters, Eric and Jan Waters, and Zach and Morgan Waters. Great-grand children, Jacob, Katie-Beth and Timmy Millwood, Savanna and Sierra Skinner, Andrew and Silas Holbrook, Alan Houghton and Lilly Millwood, Sawyer and Sullivan Waters, and Grant Waters. Sister-in-law, Evelyn Millwood Swan. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.





Services will be held at 2:00 Thursday, March 6 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Reverends Michael Millwood, Todd Skinner, Jeff Wilkie, and Scott Sorrells. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
