Mr. Harold W. Puckett of Buford passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Mr. Puckett, 89, was preceded in death by his beloved wife Doris, his sister, Betty P. McNeal and his parents Hugo and Carrine Clark Puckett.
Harold was born in 1924 and lived his entire life in the Friendship community. During World War II, he served in the Navy as a ship radio operator in the Pacific Theatre. After a career at Lockheed-Marietta and operating Family Furniture Store, Harold enjoyed his retirement repairing and restoring antique cars.
His family includes sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Puckett, Elizabethtown, KY, David and Paula Puckett, Clermont, GA and Eddie and Debbie Puckett, Gainesville, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, V.C. and Mary Puckett and Jimmy and Elizabeth Puckett, Buford, GA. Harold is also survived by his grandchildren, Lori Holbrook, Shelley Puckett, Zachary Puckett, Daniel Puckett, Ryan Puckett, Nick Puckett, Brooke Puckett Brown, Cody Puckett and 5 great-grandchildren along with a large circle of extended family and friends.
Services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Darryl Dale and Rev. James McNeal officiating. Interment will follow at Old Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
