Gertrude Ray Stone

Obituary Date: Friday, March 21, 2014
Gertrude Ray Stone, age 85 of Lula, passed away on March 21, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Visitation for Mrs. Stone will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 4-8 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville, Georgia. She will have an additional visitation in Burnsville, North Carolina on Monday, March 24, 2014 from 6-9 pm at Yancey Funeral Service. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 11:00 am at Lower Ray Cemetery in Bald Creek, North Carolina. Reverend Johnny Stone will officiate.

Mrs. Stone was born December 21, 1928 in Bald Creek, North Carolina to the late Frank Ray and Ruth Ray. She was retired from Milliken where she worked in the weave room. Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ruth Ray, her husband, Allen Stone, her sisters, Mary Frank Self, Atlas Pressley, Edith Ray, and Lucille Powell, and her brother, Walter Ray.

Mrs. Stone is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Farrell Ramsey of Mountain Home, Idaho, and son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Linda Stone of Lula, Georgia. As well as her granddaughters and their husbands, Denise and James Shockley, Elicia and Glen Massengill, Tiffany and Chris Crowe, Shannon and Mike Gelalia, and granddaughter, Danielle Ramsey. In addition, she is survived by five great-grandchildren: Allen, Cassida, and Kaytlin Shockley, Savannah Crowe, and Cooper Massengill. Mrs. Stone leaves behind three sisters, Billie Joyce Parham, Joncilee Davis, and Elsie Gay Huff, as well as, brothers, Bobbie Ray and Addison Ray.
