Judy Lynne Dube

Obituary Date: Monday, April 21, 2014
Mrs. Judy Lynne Dube, age 61, passed away April 4, 2014. Originally from Schenectady NY, Judy and her family lived in Pittsburgh PA, Cornwall NY, and Clifton Park NY before retiring on Lake Lanier in Oakwood, GA in 2000. Mrs. Dube was involved in a wide variety of community and volunteer organizations, where she often held leadership roles. Most recently, Mrs. Dube was President of the Theatre WINGS at the Gainesville Theatre Alliance as well as serving as a trustee for the Theatre Wing Endowment Fund. Along with her husband, they also hosted dinners for freshmen students and helped to feed cast and crew members after each production. As an active member of the Mended Hearts Program, Mrs. Dube dedicated over 9 years and 2300 volunteer hours offering hope and encouragement to heart patients and their families. Her dedication was recognized in June 2011 when she and her husband were awarded the Southern Region Visiting Chair of Excellence Award at the National Mended Hearts Convention. Always an animal lover and in her spirit of providing support and comfort to those around her, Judy also regularly picked up dogs from a local shelter and took them to visit the residents of New Horizons West Nursing Home. Other activities included: Past President of the Smokey Mountain Bounders Motor Home Club, Member and Secretary of the Gainesville Georgia's Medical Center Auxiliary Executive Board, Member of the Peachtree MG Registry Car Club, Lake Lanier Shore Clean Up, member of the Hall County Newcomer Club, as well as an active member of the Newcomers' Book and Garden Club, and the Hall County Sheriff's Citizen Academy Association. Mrs. Dube is preceded in Death by her parents Edith Shaw Gretten and George Gretten. She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Victor E Dube Jr, two sons Nathan (Robin) Dube and Brent Dube, beloved Grandson Connor Dube, Uncles Harry Shaw and James (Betty) Shaw, Sister Peggy (John) Enlow, sister-in-law Midge Dube, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life Service for Judy at the Ed Cabell Theatre, Education and Performing Arts Building, located at The University of North Georgia, Gainesville, 3820 Mundy Mill Road, Oakwood, GA on Sunday, April 27, 2014.
