Jack Barton Dowdy

Jack Barton Dowdy, age 80, of Dahlonega, GA died Friday, April 25, 2014 at Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega, GA.

Jack was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, graduate of Lumpkin County High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge in Dahlonega. Jack was of the Baptist faith.

He was the son of the late Floyd and Estelle Jones Dowdy.

Jack is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Martha Dowdy, Dahlonega, GA; nieces and nephews, Vickie and Stevie Eaton, Randy and Elaine Dowdy, and Jimmy Dowdy. 5 great-nieces and nephews, 4 great-great-nieces and nephews and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Jack are scheduled for 3 PM Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Roger Stover will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County with Masonic graveside rites.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Saturday April 26, 2014 from 7 PM until 9 PM and again on Sunday from 1 PM until 3 PM.
