Charles Edward Rodgers, age 92 of Gainesville, formerly of Sautee, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Lanier Village Estates.
Mr. Rodgers was born November 27, 1921 in McComb, MS to the late John Alvin Rodgers and Eva Mae Dunn Rodgers. He was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church. Mr. Rodgers was a retired Commander for United States Navy having served in World War II. He was a Naval Pilot flying for air and sea rescue and submarine hunters.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Wylma "Jewel" Rodgers, Gainesville formerly of Sautee; daughters and sons-in-law, Lea and Jim Perkins, Dawsonville; Mindy and Michael Harrison, Fraser, CO; sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Susan Rodgers, Atlanta; Bruce and Kate Rodgers, Sautee; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 P.M. Sunday, May 25, 2014 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Turner will officiate. Interment will follow at Yonah View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2-2:30 P.M. Sunday prior to the funeral service.
