Johnie Sue Hosea Means

Johnie Sue Hosea Means, age 88, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Fellowship Health and Rehab.

Born in Toccoa, GA, on December 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Enoch Moses "Pode" Hosea and the late Myrtle Palmira Davis Hosea. She was a member of River of Life Church of God, where she was the Senior Adult Sunday School Class teacher and led the Lady's Prayer Band for 45 years.

She is survived by her children, Elbert Samuel Means, Jr. and his wife Joyce, of Honea Path, SC, Connie Linn Wilson and her husband Bill, of Anderson, Becky Joyce Gilliam and her husband Junior, of Iva, SC and Susan Elaine Means, of Anderson, SC; a sister, Minnie Deal, of Gainesville, GA; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Samual Means, Sr.;
a daughter, Shirley Ann Means; and 13 brothers and sisters.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday June 9, 2014 at 2:00 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Jones officiating. Interment will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home, on Monday, prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to River of Life Church of God Missions, 601 South McDuffie Street, Anderson, SC 29624.
