Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Garrison

Francine "Fran" Allen Garrison, age 70 of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Habersham Medical Center.

Her husband, Hugh Garrison, age 69 of Cornelia, Georgia passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at Habersham County Medical Center.

Mrs. Garrison was born in Sautee, Georgia on August 16, 1943. She was a daughter of the late William Alonzo & Addie Simmons Allen. Mrs. Garrison was a very devoted wife, homemaker, and was a member of Fellowship Church in Baldwin. She especially loved spending time with all of her family including nieces, nephews, and friends. Mrs. Garrison also enjoyed traveling.

Mr. Garrison was born in Habersham County on October 2, 1944. He was a son of the late Rev. Clyde Garrison and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Rebecca Poole Garrison. Mr. Garrison was retired from Georgia Natural Gas and Elan Pharmaceutical and was a member of Fellowship Church in Baldwin. He enjoyed traveling, working and spending time with his beloved Shih Tzu Hugh "Henry".

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garrison was also preceded in death by brothers William Paul Allen, Sherman Allen and John Ed Allen; sister, Irene Lovell.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Garrison was also preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. Garry Garrison, James Aden Garrison and Farry Dwight Garrison.

Mrs. Garrison's survivors include sisters & brothers-in-law, Minnie Lou & George Sexton of Marietta, GA; Susie & Clarence Hollman of Gainesville, GA; sister, Jenny Allen Merritt of Sautee, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Rev. Clifford & Martha Allen of Gainesville, GA; brother-in-law, W.L. Lovell, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Martha Ann Allen and Laverne Allen.

Mr. Garrison's survivors include brothers & sisters-in-law, Phil & Linda Garrison of Pigeon Forge, TN, John & Brenda Garrison of Gainesville; sister & brother-in-law, Mary Ann & Ron Ellington of Cornelia; sisters-in-law, Gail Garrison, Diane Garrison and Wanda Garrison.

Both are survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, & friends.




A joint celebration of life for Mr. and Mrs. Garrison is scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Jody Garrison and the Rev. Mark Garrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrison family section of the Old Mud Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Turpin officiating at the graveside.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 pm on Monday.

The family will be at the residence of Diane Garrison, 2323 Mud Creek Road, Alto, GA 30510.
