John D. Ward

John D. Ward, age 87, of Alto, Georgia, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014.

Mr. Ward was born on July 21, 1926 in Hall County, Georgia, to the late Fred and Winnie Jackson Ward. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Grier Ward; sister, Mellie Thomas; brothers, Elbert and Garnett Ward. Mr. Ward was a member of The Old Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He was retired from Fieldale Corporation with 30 years of service.




Survivors include his sisters, Willie Mae McCommon, Gillsville, GA, Versie Wiley, Lula, GA, Mable Jean Wiley, Lula, GA, Julia Collett, Lula, GA; and several nieces and nephews.




Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Roy Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church Cemetery.




The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2014.
