Norma Talmage Powell

Norma Talmage Powell, 89, of Gainesville, died Saturday July 12, 2014. She was born September 1, 1924 in Covington County, Alabama.

She was a WWII veteran and served as a Seaman First Class (W.A.V.E.) from 1944 to 1946.

Norma worked with her husband Alfred, managing the books at his beauty shops Fireside, Oak Grove, Druid Hills and Wesley Woods in NE Atlanta.

She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur, GA.

"Nana", as she was known to her family, enjoyed cooking, reading, dancing, travelling and being with her family.

Mrs. Powell is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Alfred W. Powell, Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina P. and son-in-law, Lito Salatino; sons, Michael W. Powell; and Alfred "Whit" Jr. and daughter-in-law, Patricia Powell.

Grandchildren, Jamie P. and husband Piero Barron and Jessica P. and husband Matt Tebbe. Great-Grandchildren, Alexander P. Barron, Adriana V. Barron, Jeremy E. Tebbe, and Owen W. Tebbe.

The Family will receive friends Tuesday July 15, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home.

A Graveside service will be held Wednesday July 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA.
