Thelma Stamey

Thelma Stamey, 79, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday July 12, 2014 at her residence following a period of declining health.

Born March 13, 1935 in Dawson County to the late Jerry and Braskie Lingerfelt, she lived in Dekalb County for over 50 years before returning to Dawson County 3 years ago. Mrs. Stamey was also preceded in death by her husband, Eston Stamey; daughter, Vickie Mitchell; sister, Cindy Rider; and a brother, Bill Lingerfelt.

Surviving are her children, Robert and Barbara Stamey, Canton, Elbert and Janice Stamey, Dawsonville, Susie Stamey, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Alisha Mitchell, Adam Mitchell, Will Stamey; sisters, Clora Miller, Auburn, GA, Susie Lingerfelt, Dawsonville; brothers, Jewell Lingerfelt, Dawsonville, Roy Lee Lingerfelt, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.

At her request, Mrs. Stamey was cremated and a private memorial will be held at a later date.
