Gabriel Russell "Monk" McClure, Sr.

Gabriel Russell "Monk" McClure, Sr., 92, of Oakwood passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with internment to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Dr. Bill Coates and Dr. Bruce Fields will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. McClure was born on August 27, 1921 in Gainesville to the late James Mark McClure and Elizabeth (Busbee) McClure. He was a retired pharmaceutical salesman for Schering Corporation and attended First Baptist Church of Gainesville. Mr. McClure also served in the Army Air Corp. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary McClure; son, Gabriel Russell McClure, Jr.; sister, Beatrice Smith.

Mr. McClure is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Brenda McClure of Tucker; granddaughter and husband, Kristie and Mark Montello of Tucker; great grandchildren, John, Mark, and Mary Evelyn Montello of Tucker; grandson and wife, Chuck and Sharon McClure of Jefferson; great granddaughter, Calia McClure of Jefferson; grandsons, Gabe McClure of Gainesville, Matt McClure of Flowery Branch; granddaughter, Crystal Murray of Eatonton; great grandchildren, Brad and Bella Murray of Eatonton; nephew and wife, Mark and Charlene Hubener of Tucker and their children, Jeff and Julie Hubener of McDonough and their children Ainsliegh and Cody; Traci and J.P. Wietrick of Tucker and their son, Luke.
