Bradley Wilson Jones

Obituary Date: Sunday, August 3, 2014

Bradley Wilson Jones, born September 16, 1926 in Kentucky and died August 3, 2014 in Gainesville, Ga. Bradley was 87 years old at time of death and died of natural causes. He was a resident of Smoky Springs Independent living facility in Gainesville, Ga. for the past year and a half. He was one of 13 children born to William "Bill" Jones and Nora Jones. He is survived by one younger sister, Lauretta Burgess who lives in West Virginia and his daughter, Judy Ann Paul, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty in Gainesville, Ga. Other living relatives include son in law Mike Paul, granddaughters Wendy Joy LaPorte, Mandy Leigh Brock, Ashley Lynn McCarty and two step granddaughters, Nikki Tindol and Natalie Schurke, along with son in laws and step son in laws, Justin LaPorte, Michael Brock, Whitt Tindol, Eric Schurke and three great grandchildren, Kaiden LaPorte, McCarty LaPorte, Emerson Brock, and 2 step great grandchildren Drew Tindol and Peyton Tindol.

Bradley was married to Dreama Alice Lafon for 50 years. Dreama passed away in 1999 at the age of 66 in Baltimore, Maryland. Bradley grew up in West Virginia and worked in his dad's sawmill business and later moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he worked as a carpenter building bridges for Jordan Construction company. Bradley's favorite activity was playing pool and he was very good at it and always called his shots. He also enjoyed going to different venues where bluegrass music was being played. He was too bashful to get up and dance but he sure could tap his feet to the beat. But don't try to touch his feet because he was extremely ticklish but especially on his feet.

Bradley suffered a huge loss when his second born daughter, Louise June Jones, died after only 5 weeks of life in Alderson, West Virginia. Desiring to have more children, he raised a foster child named Joyce Philpot for a while. Bradley was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, which is an organization/club to foster the ideas found in the bible about helping your people in need.

The Rev. Mathew McGowan of Gainesville, Ga. will be speaking at his memorial on Thursday, August 8, 2014 at Smoky Springs. The memorial service is for residents of Smoky Springs, family and a few close friends. Bradley will be buried next to his wife Dreama in Holly Hill Memorial Gardens in Middle River, Md. A grave site service will be held for family and friends in Maryland.
