Lucy Meeks Smith

Mrs. Lucy Meeks Smith, age 83 of 150 Cherokee Hill Circle, Westminster, South Carolina passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 at Oconee Medical Center.

A daughter of the late John Milligan and Cornelia Stowe Meeks, she was born September 20, 1930 in Iva, South Carolina having lived most of her life in Stephens County, Georgia and Oconee County, South Carolina. She was retired from Jantzen Southern, Inc. in Seneca, South Carolina and was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Smith, a grandson, Kelley Smith, two brothers, George Meeks and Grady Meeks and by three sisters, Cleo Johns, Ola Jarrett and Mazie Burgess.

Survivors include her husband of the home, Herbert Smith; a son, Gerald W. Smith of the home; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 9, 11 O'clock AM at Old Liberty Baptist Church with the Reverend Mark Nelson officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, David Cash, Furman Smith, Jr. and Raymond Singleton.

The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Interment will be in the Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Lucy Meeks Smith. Online condolences can be made by visiting the website at www.acree-davisfh.com
