Heaven's gates swung open to welcome Erice Johnson with a raft of sheet music and a broad smile as she entered last week. Piano music accompanied the Lord's Rotary Club singing welcoming her home.
A native of Blairsville, Erice was raised and lived in Gainesville for most of her life. The daughter of Elbert and Lieda Morgan, she earned magna cum laude honors with a music degree from Brenau College where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
She was a successful and respected realtor in her professional career of forty-one years associated with Boulevard Associates and co-owned Heritage Real Estate, Coldwell Banker and Keller Williams Lanier Partners. She was an active and talented member of Gainesville Rotary where she played piano for its meetings. She and her family are members of First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Pat M. Whitehead.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, William (Bob) Johnson , son Blake Johnson and his friend, Janis Parker of Sugar Hill, son Michael Johnson and his wife, Vanessa, of Augusta, and four grandchildren: Ginger Johnson, Alexandra Johnson, Savannah Peebles and Cailin Peebles and two great-grandchildren: Adrian Juarez and Madelyn Acevedo and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A private burial will take place at Alta Vista Cemetery. A celebration of Erice's life will be held Thursday, October 9 at 2:00 at First Presbyterian Church with a reception following the service in Swetenburg Hall. A nursery will be provided at the church.
