Craig McKay

Obituary Date: Tuesday, November 4, 2014
Craig Stuart McKay died on November 4, 2014. He was born on August 3, 1958 in Wilmington, Delaware to parents G. Robert and Virginia McKay and sister Lynn. Craig and his wife Deborah recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Their son Tyler will graduate from the University of Alabama in May.

Craig graduated from Duke University and Emory Goizueta Business School. He had a successful career in manufacturing and technology, having worked for IBM, MAPICS and QAD.

When not navigating the art of the deal, Craig could be found on, in or under the water; boating, fishing, and diving - on the Chattahoochee, in Montana rivers, in the waters off Cabo and Costa Rica and Kowloon Bay. Craig was also known to divide his time between the golf course and his son's travel baseball games. His inimitable skiing style with the tap-tap of his poles as he started runs echoed on the slopes of Val d'Isere, Zermatt, and Telluride. Photography was another passion - capturing subjects from Santorini sunsets to trophy fish to runners sliding into home plate. Craig's legendary entrepreneurial success as an eBay master may have begun with his humble teenage pachysandra business.

Craig was known for the friendly ways he reached out to others. He made everyday encounters personal, inquiring about family and expressing thanks for the smallest of things.

Craig did not believe in doing things halfway; no matter the context, he put his all into every aspect of his life. We are grateful for the man, son, husband, father, brother and uncle he was and will miss him all the days of our lives.

To honor Craig's life, his family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Craig S. McKay Multiple Myeloma Research Fund at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Office of Gift Records, Emory University, 1762 Clifton Rd. NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30322.

Memories and condolences may be posted in Craig's guest book at littledavenport.com.

A celebration of Craig's life will be held in early December; arrangements will be posted when finalized.
