Reathel Lois Long Symer

Obituary Date: Monday, November 24, 2014
Mrs. Reathel Lois Long Swymer, age 85 of Gainesville, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Pruitt Health Center in Decatur, Georgia following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Dave Holbrook, Reverend Eddie Cain, Sr. and Reverend Jack Biddy will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 24, 2014 and Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 4 - 7 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Swymer was born April 24, 1929 in Unaka, North Carolina to the late Will Long and Margie Garrett Long. She was retired from AT & T and was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. Reathel was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Thelma Stone and Edith McArthur.
Mrs. Swymer is survived by her husband, James M. Swymer of Gainesville, her daughter, Teresa McCurdy of Dawsonville, her son, Jimmy Swymer of Gainesville, grandson, Eric Weaver of Cumming, granddaughter, Shelbie Poole of Gainesville, 9 great-grandchildren, sisters, Mozell Dills of Seneca, South Carolina, Ozell Risener of Smyrna, Georgia, Ateca Rogers of Turtletown, Tennessee, Juanita Tanzer of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Wilma Williamson of Turtletown, Tennessee, Sara Reese of Austell, Georgia and JoAnn Reid of Murphy, North Carolina and brother, William Long of Haysville, North Carolina.
