Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. L.G. "Snuffy" Perry, age 89 of Commerce, Georgia who entered into rest Thursday, November 27, 2014.
Mr. Perry was born in Madison County, Georgia the son of the late Luke Henry Perry and Mellie Elizabeth Perry, and in addition to his parents he was also preceded by his wife, Sarah
Gordon Perry and 10 brothers and sisters.
"Snuffy" as he was affectionately known, graduated from Ila High School in 1946, enlisted and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre on the U.S.S. Tripoli, honorably discharged and attended Piedmont College and University of Georgia. Working as a salesman for George W. Helmne Tobacco Company, he became a household name in many homes throughout Northeast Georgia. "Snuffy" served as Jackson County Sheriff, 1965
