Jimmy Darryl Robertson

Mr. Jimmy Darryl Robertson, age 71 of Oakwood, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 peacefully at home following a brief illness.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Coates officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 6 - 8pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, South Carolina with Reverend Sheila Rogers officiating.

Jim was born September 10th 1943 and raised in Greenwood, South Carolina. He was the son of James E. "J.E." Robertson and Velma Cogburn Robertson. Jim was a member of the 1960 Greenwood High School graduating class and attended Clemson University where he earned a degree in Bachelor of Arts. Jim then completed training for the Department of the Army in Ft Jackson, South Carolina. He began his career working at Sinclair Oil Company as a commercial salesman. A short time later, in 1973, he was hired by Harrison Oil & Tire Company and remained there for 42 years until his death. A more faithful, loyal and dedicated person could not be found. Jim touched so many lives with his giving heart. He will be missed every day.

It is impossible to sum up the life of Jim Robertson. To his mother he was a loving and caring son and to his daughters he was a great father and someone to be leaned upon sharing his wisdom and life's lessons. He never met a stranger and became friends to all he met.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, James E. Robertson.

Mr. Robertson is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Sharon & Chad Klinck of Jefferson, daughter, Hannah Merritt of Orangeburg, South Carolina, mother, Velma Robertson, granddaughters, Hope Watson, Alexandra Merritt, Abby Merritt, McKenzie Klinck and Meadow Klinck, grandsons, Seth Watson and Mason Klinck, cousin, Beth Hyman of Greenwood, South Carolina and a host of other family members.
