Peter I. Markov

Peter I. Markov was born in Trambesh Bulgaria to the late John Ivanov and Maria Popova Markov. In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his brother, Alexander Markov. He practiced medicine in Bulgaria for ten years; he then immigrated to the United States in 1969.

He mastered the English language, entered a residency program and became certified to practice medicine in America. He practiced radiology in Murphy and Andrews, North Carolina for eleven years, where he met and married Claudia and started a family. In 1991 the family moved to Commerce, Georgia. He maintained his solo radiology practice at BJC Medical Center, now Northridge Medical Center, for seventeen years. He was a dedicated physician and enjoyed participating in the Commerce medical community. He was happiest being with his beloved family, he will be greatly missed.

Peter is survived by his wife, Claudia Olson Markov of Commerce; daughters, Ellwyn Kristina Borgan of Denver, CO and Stephanie Louise Wood of Montgomery, AL; son, John Peter Markov of Savannah, GA.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 17 at noon, at Jackson Memorial Gardens with Dr. Ken Powers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11 AM until noon.
