Ewell Kanady

Ewell Kanady, age 85 of Cleveland, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Kanady was born May 16, 1929 in White County to the late Elbert and Gertrude Allison Kanady. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War and was a self-employed carpenter and farmer. Ewell was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a Sunday School teacher for over 35 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Eloise Kanady, brothers J.D. Kanady, Herman Kanady, Winfred Kanady, sisters Bonnie Gooch and Euflah Allen.

Survivors include his daughter, Shelia Carr, Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Tommy Cantrell, Sautee; grandchildren, Crystal and Josh Schlieman; Jacob and Casey Cantrell; Brian Cantrell; Joshua Seitz; Jeremiah and Victoria Seitz; brother, Thomas Kanady, Fort Worth, TX; 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Dr. Joe Vernon and the Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
