Robert G. Slim Denny

Robert G. "Slim" Denny, 75, of Dawsonville passed away Monday January 19, 2015 following a sudden illness.

Born July 19, 1939 in Cherokee County to the late Cecil, Sr. and Mary Denny, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 30 years having moved from Forsyth County. For the past 12 years, Mr. Denny was employed by the Dawson County Board of Education as a custodian at Dawson County High School. He was formerly employed for many years in the Fulton County School System and had also worked as a plumber and a poultry farmer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Denny; daughter, Linda Faye Denny; granddaughter, Cassie Key; sisters, Sadie Mae Denny, Betty Joyce Rolland; and brothers, Charles Denny and Cecil Denny.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Denny, Dawsonville; children, Jimmy L. Denny, Dawsonville, Sandra and Lonnie Goss, Dawsonville, Ruth A. Nettles, Dawsonville, Pam S. Revis, Dawsonville, Bryan Revis, Texas, Ed and Mary Pugh, Winder, Randy Pugh, Buford, Robby Barrett, Dawsonville, Matthew Barrett, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Amanda and Robby Payne, Jessica and Jason Wright, Jason and Brittany Goss, Christopher Key, Cory and Casey Key, Dakota Whittemore, Johnathan Pugh, Georgia Pugh; sister, Sara Lee Davis, Marietta; sister in law, Betty Denny, Marietta; seven great grandchildren and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Thursday January 22, 2015 at 2 o'clock at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Glenn Byrd, Rev. Mark Hassler and Jason Goss will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family for a memorial to be placed on the school grounds.
