Sharon Lanier Haynie

Sharon Lanier Haynie, age 64, of Dahlonega passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

Since early childhood, Sharon lived with Diabetes Type I and yet in spite of her illness, Sharon enjoyed a rich, creative and happy life. She had a passion for life and the creative arts. From a very early age, she was a dancer, painter and seamstress. She was a fiction writer, stained glass and jewelry artist, woodworker, and floral designer. Sharon was an accomplished business woman and loved working. She owned two businesses, including Morning Glory on the square in Dahlonega. She served as the first president of the Dahlonega Merchant's Association and was active in the Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed the history of Dahlonega and worked for seven years as a tour guide at the Dahlonega Gold Museum. She loved animals and adopted many dogs and cats during her lifetime.

Sharon touched many lives and was loved by many friends and business associates. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Sharon moved to Lumpkin County in 1995. She had also lived in Woodstock, GA, Chamblee GA, Jacksonville, FL and Corpus Christi, TX. Sharon enjoyed traveling, gardening, her pets, decorating, collecting antiques and fine jewelry, studying history, classic cars, the Atlanta Braves, baking cakes, and raising her two boys. Earlier in her career, she was a visual merchandiser for the largest department stores in Atlanta, including Rich's and Macy's, operated her own successful visual merchandising business at the Atlanta Apparel Mart, and other major wholesale apparel markets throughout the country.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Jefferson Carl Lanier, Jr, grandparents, Doris Patterson Tulisalo, Jefferson Carl Lanier, Sr, Evie Aurora Brock Lanier and cousins, Robert Gilstrap and Michael Moore. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Terry Haynie of Dahlonega; mother, Jean Tulisalo Lanier of Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Autumn Baker of Dahlonega; son, Erik Haynie of Dahlonega; sister, Victoria Lanier of Asheville, NC. She is also survived by uncles, Karl Tulisalo of Gainesville GA, George Fitzmaurice of Chicago, IL; aunt and uncle, Mildred and Carl Flury of Demorest, GA, and by close first and second cousins, Jana Flury, Rick Tulisalo, Carol Tulisalo, Pat Tulisalo Daniel, Christopher Moore, Susan Walker Sprayberry, Staci Sprayberry, Lynn Sprouse, Joyce Lynn Sprouse, and Sid Walker.

The Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at 1:30 pm at the Dahlonega Presbyterian Church, 150 Warwick Street, Dahlonega, Georgia 30533.
