Malcolm Nelson

Obituary Date: Thursday, February 12, 2015

Malcolm Nelson age 79, of Gainesville went home to be with his Lord and departed his loved ones on Thursday February 12, 2015 following an extended illness.




Malcolm was born on June 25, 1935 and grew up in Forest Park. When he was a teen, his parents fell in love with the North Georgia Mountains after visiting him at YMCA camps. It was there after their move to Hiawassee, that Malcolm met the love of his life, Elsie, at Towns County High School. He was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church for over 50 years and was an active member for over 50 years of the Clermont Masonic Lodge #512 F&AM. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.




Malcolm was preceded in death by his Parents, Mace and Perle Nelson, Grandchildren, Benji Nelson and Tabby Chandler, Brothers, Dana Nelson and Emmett Turner.




Survivors include Wife, Elsie Nelson, Gainesville, Children, Jeff and Tona Nelson, Demorest, GA, Reggie Nelson, Cleveland, GA, Barbara Dale, Talmo, GA, Sherrie and Craig Bryant, Cleveland, GA, Grandchildren and Spouses, Josh Chandler, Cleveland, GA, Anna and Greg Stotser, Columbus, GA, Lydia and Josh Fraiser, Eatonton, GA, Coleby and Ashley Nelson, Cleveland, GA, Dillon Nelson, Los Angeles, CA, Ashely Ortiz, Gainesville, GA, Cameron, Caleb, and Caisen Dale, Talmo, GA, Bree and Travis Daniel, Cumming, GA, Great Grandchildren, Addie and Hadley Nelson, Payton, Amanda and Preston Ortiz, Riley, Tinley and Kelly Daniel, Brother and Sister-in-Law, Downie and Delma Nelson, McConnelsville, Ohio, Extended family, Maria Batchelor and her children, Joey, Gene, Linda and Patricia.




Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Saturday February 14, 2015 at New Bridge Baptist Church. Josh Fraiser, Rev. Milton Harris and Rev. Billy Blocker will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The NALC will be honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
