Sammy 'Sam' Collins

Mr. Sammy "Sam" Collins, age 68 of 257 Hillside Road, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at his residence.

A son of the late Mose and Agnes Ward Collins, he was born July 3, 1946 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life. He was employed for a number of years with Davidson Mineral Products and Scott Brothers Crushed Stone and later retired from Hanson due to health reasons. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of the home, June Nicholson Thomas; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bo Barrett of Toccoa; step-daughters and their husbands, Becky and Todd Mercher and Julie and Steven Mercher both of Trenton, North Carolina; step-son and his wife, Cole and Shawn Thomas of Trenton, North Carolina; grandson, Matthew Barrett and granddaughter, Nicole Griffin both of Toccoa; nine step-grandchildren in Trenton, North Carolina and five great-grandchildren in Toccoa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Louise Collins and Kenneth and Frances Collins both of Toccoa, Tim Collins of Bowman, Georgia and Rick and Betty Collins of Banks County, Georgia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jackie and Gene Woods and Pat Garner both of Toccoa and Charlotte and Wilkes Turner of Royston, Georgia; nephew raised in the home, Randy Collins and his wife, Rebecca of Eastanollee.

A Memorial Service to be held at a later date.
