Michael Kelly, age 78, of Cumming, GA, passed away on April 12, 2015. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Born in New York City, Mike went to Good Shepard grammar school in the Inwood section of Manhattan and George Washington High School.
Mike married Marie (Kelly) Kelly in 1964. Throughout their marriage they lived in New Hyde Park, NY, Sayville, NY and then in 1995 Mike and Marie moved to Georgia to be closer to their children and have remained in Georgia ever since. Mike worked 32 years for Equitable Life Insurance in NYC and for most of those years rode the Long Island Railroad where he spent many hours playing cards with his “train buddies” who soon became life-long friends. Mike was always the life of the party and always had a way of making you laugh. Mike spent many years with the Knights of Columbus in NY. He loved to bowl, go fishing and had a passion for cooking.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Marie, his daughter, Maureen Kelly of Atlanta, GA; Diane Morley of Cumming, GA and grandchildren Jack & Taylor. His brother, Jim Kelly of Hawthorne, CA and sister, Maureen Cantwell of Oceanside, NY, also survives him.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by McDonald’s Funeral Home in Cumming, GA and a mass will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Good Shepherd Church in Cumming, GA at 2:30pm in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
