Otis Dewey Cantrell

Obituary Date: Wednesday, April 8, 2015

Mr. Otis Dewey Cantrell age 72 of Gainesville passed away on Tuesday April 14, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

           

Funeral services will be held on Friday April 17, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Hoyt Smith and Reverend David Gravitt will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday April 16, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

           

Mr. Cantrell was born on May 02, 1942 in Gainesville, Ga to the late Enoch Eugene Cantrell and Bertie Jones Cantrell. He was a member of McEver Road United Methodist Church and retired as a self-employed builder. He was an avid member of the BSA. He served as assistant scout master to Troop 215 and was cofounder in the reactivation of Troop 17. As a boy scout he achieved life scout and was inducted into the order of the arrow.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

            Mr. Cantrell is survived by his wife, Betty Cantrell of Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Jennifer Cantrell of Danielsville, daughter, Jacqueline Thompson of Hoschton, daughter and son-in-law, Laura and John Janick of Winder, brother and sister-in-law, John and Diane Cantrell of Woodstock, brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Laura Cantrell of Monroe,  mother-in-law, Aldine Komitsky, and 6 grandchildren.
