Sarah Anderson Howington

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Sarah Anderson Howington, age 94, of Jefferson, who passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015. Mrs. Howington was born in Clarke County, Georgia, a daughter to the late Alonzo and Montine Sanders Anderson. Mrs. Howington was a farmer, raised flowers and was the owner of Sarah’s Florist in Commerce. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Howington was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hoddie Howington, daughter, Linda “Poochie” Looney, son, Larry Alonzo Howington, and granddaughter, Donna Standridge.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jo Standridge, of Jefferson, sons, Alan Leroy Howington of Savannah, Steven David Howington of Jefferson; sisters, Carlene Finger and Mary Ann Shadden of Athens, brothers; Harold Stephenson and Paul Stephenson both of Athens; 15 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 3:00PM in the Cabin Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Nicholson with Wayne Jarrard, Jonathan Gary, Jordan Jarrard, Jenson Jarrard, Greg Howington and Punkin Kesler honored as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 12:30-2:30pm  at Evans Funeral Home, prior to the service.
