Anita Deeleen “Dee” Loyd Hill

Obituary Date: Saturday, May 30, 2015

Our heavenly Father called our precious loved one home on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 5:11 AM. She fought hard, but could not overcome her battle with ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome). She will surely be missed by all who met her and got to know her. We’ll truly miss her, but she’s with God, friends, and family so we find comfort knowing this.

Deeleen was born in Gainesville, GA on July 8, 1958 to Jim and Martha Jo Gibbs Loyd. She was the youngest of three children. She attended Main Street Elementary School, Gainesville Middle School and graduated from Gainesville High School in 1976. She was employed at Olympic Oil Company for the past 27 years.

Deeleen loved to help others. She would do anything for anybody and boy could she get the job done. She was a take charge and get it done type of person. For about the last 15 years, she got together and directed the Gibbs family reunion. She decided last year not to do the reunion this year. Little did we know, we still had a “reunion” at the hospital when friends and family congregated for support and prayer for her. Thank you Dee for doing this for us.

Deeleen had a cousin that she truly loved and loved to help. She would frequently visit him and do whatever needed to be done. Whether it was cleaning the house or grocery shopping for him. She was always helping someone and she took great pride in doing so. She always put others first. Thank you Dee for all that you did.

Deeleen enjoyed cooking and boy could she put on a spread at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved gardening and working outside. She kept an immaculate home. She loved God and loved going to church. She loved her family.

“Dee” as she was known is survived by her loving husband, Steve Hill. Steve and Deeleen had two sons, Chad Bennett and wife Emily and Mac Hill both of whom she adored. Chad is assistant football coach and teacher at Rabun County High School in Tiger, GA. Mac is employed as a portfolio manager by Regions Bank in Gainesville and Atlanta. Dee was really proud of her husband and two sons for their accomplishments and always encouraged them to do their very best. Deeleen is also survived by daughter and son-in-law, Chastity and Richard Adams of Cleveland; daughters, Beth Hill of Toccoa and Amanda Beasley of Cornelia; granddaughters, Breanna Adams and Sara Beth Adams; granddaughter, Taylor Rae Adams; granddaughter, Nakatlyn Hill; grandson, Eli Hill; granddaughters, Olivia and Charlie Beasley; two older brothers, Butch Loyd and wife Janet and Gary Loyd. In addition she is survived by uncles, Stanley and Wayne Gibbs; aunts, Brenda Hembric and Rose Marie “Bootie” Brooks.

Dee was preceded in death by her mom, Martha Jo Gibbs Loyd and her dad, Jim Loyd. Also maternal grandparents, Edgar and Ruby Gibbs along with paternal grandparents, Waymon Loyd and Eula Wilbanks; uncles Jimmy and Billy Gibbs.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery.
