Floyd Thomas Bond

Mr. Floyd Thomas Bond, age 68 of Cleveland passed away at his residence following a courageous battle with brain cancer.  Thomas was born on August 5, 1946 in Jefferson, GA to the late Sam and Annie Mae Tolbert Bond.  He was employed with McKibbon Hotel Management as vice-president of engineering, retiring on March , 2013 after 32 years of service.  Thomas served as an ordained deacon at Faith Baptist Church in Jefferson from 1977 until 1992.  In 1992 Thomas and his wife June moved to Cleveland and joined the Helen First Baptist Church.  He was on the board of directors as president of Dial A Ministries in Mayesville for several years.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents as well as a granddaughter Ashley Bond;  he is survived by his wife June, Veal Bond; son, Gary Bond (Jeneine) of Lexington; daughter, Cindy Wilson of Calhoun; grandchildren, Josh Wilson(Brittney) of Calhoun; Justin Wilson of Ringold; Jonathan Wilson of Jackson, MS.; Regis Bond(Lydia) of Watkinsville; Brittany Shelnut(Zach Field) of Crawford; Christie Phillips(Steven) of Comer; great grandchildren, Landon Fields, Bailey Wilson, Bentley Bond, Brantlee Bond, William Bond, and Asher Bond; sisters and brothers in law; Liz Lord of Nicholson, Martha Pethel(Charles) and Judy Southwick(Lloyd) of Jefferson; brothers and sisters in law; Larry Bond and Kenney Bond(Becky) of Commerce; Johnny Bond(Kathy) of Jefferson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 5 until 8 PM.  Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, June 29 2015 at 11 AM with the Rev. Jim Holmes officiating.  Interment will be held in Jackson Memorial Gardens in Jefferson on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 2:30 PM with the Rev. Eric Shelton officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Mickey Maddox, Randy Pethel, Keith Savage, Darrin Webb, Carl Veal, Ricky Watkins, Tim Watkins, and Danny Webb.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Helen First Baptist Church Build Fund.
