Benny Lamar Nuckolls, Sr

Benny Lamar Nuckolls, Sr., 83, a lifelong resident of Forsyth County, GA passed away peacefully on June 29, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Nellie Nuckolls; father and mother-in-law, Harold and Frances Goodwin; brother-in-law, Bill Goodwin.

Mr. Nuckolls graduated from Cumming High School in1950 and began work at Rich’s Warehouse and Bagwell and Mathis Service Station before joining the military, where he served in the US Navy for 3 years. In 1955 Benny began his career at Sawnee EMC, retiring in 1994. He began work as a Ford dealer transport driver for local Billy Howell Ford and Chestatee Ford in 1996. He was a member of the Forsyth County Lions Club and named a Melvin Jones Fellow. As a Charter Member of Cumming Baptist Church, he served as deacon for 15 years, and attended The Chapel Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his loving wife, Katherine Goodwin Nuckolls; daughter, Kim Davis; son, Lamar Nuckolls, Jr.; son, Michael Nuckolls; grandson, Taylor Nathaniel Davis of Cumming, GA; dog, Charlie; sister, Sandra (Morris) Williams of Cumming, GA; sister, Bettie (Charles) Williams of Decatur, GA; sister-in-law, Anita Parsons of Douglasville, GA; sister-in-law, Pat (CW) Page of Douglasville, GA, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Cumming Baptist Church in Cumming, GA. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. Dr. Barry Crocker and Rev. Roger Williams will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 9:00 PM, and Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Cumming Baptist Church Deacons will serve as pallbearers, with Ford Transport Drivers serving as honorary pallbearers.
