John Robert Findley

John Robert Findley, 85, of Tiger, Georgia passed away July 17, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Findley graduated from Norcross High School in 1947, then attended Berry College and graduated from Emory in 1951. He played on the Norcross American Legion baseball team and signed with the Cleveland Indians as a pitcher. He was active in the Methodist Church.  Mr. Findley retired from Sears Roebuck after 35 years. In retirement he traveled with family and enjoyed being an active part of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives.

He is survived by his loving wife Annette Hammond Findley of 62 years; daughter Lynn Findley Brookins and husband David of Snellville, GA; son Bob Findley and wife Carol of San Luis Obispo, CA; three grandchildren Matt Brookins wife Rachel, Kelly Brookins Clayton husband Jeff, and Eric Findley; five great-grandchildren Alex, Gabe, Abby, Bailey, and Charley.

The family will receive friends Monday July 20, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Beck Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the chapel of Beck Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at 3:00 PM Monday July 20, 2015 at Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery in Statham, GA.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at P.O. Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38010-9908.
