Warren Lewis Stewart

Obituary Date: Thursday, September 10, 2015

Warren Lewis Stewart, 85, of Gainesville passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 following a brief illness.

               Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Northlake Baptist Church. Dr. Tony Smith and Reverend Danny Jones will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Rd. Gainesville, GA 30504

               Mr. Stewart was born on March 10, 1930 in Cartersville, Ga to the late Lonnie Walter Stewart and Maude Childers Stewart. He was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served for 4 years during the Korean Conflict. After serving with the Army, he was employed with Cochrans Grocery for many years. He later owned and operated B & L Grocery for over 20 years. Mr. Stewart had served as a deacon at Northlake Baptist Church where he was a charter member. After retiring, he and Juanita moved to West Virginia for 16 years to help care for her parents. While there, Mr. Stewart was very instrumental in restarting Red Creek Church of the Brethren in Dryfork, West Virginia. He was also a member of the Murrayville Masonic Lodge.

               Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Hemphill and Grace Stewart; brothers, James, Dennis, Tate, Bob, Ralph and Harold Stewart.

               Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife of 64 years, Juanita Pennington Stewart of Gainesville; daughter, Debbie Sanders; daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Tom Johnson of Gainesville; grandson, Tommy Johnson of Locust Grove, GA; grandson and wife, Eric and Kelly Johnson of Gainesville; great grandchildren, Evie, Ethan and Eli Johnson of Locust Grove and Micah and Brie Johnson of Gainesville; brother, Grady Stewart of Gainesville; numerous nieces and nephews.

               In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northlake Baptist Church building fund, 4823 Thompson Bridge Rd. Gainesville, Ga 30506 or to the Red Creek Church of Brethren, Laneville Rd. Dryfork, West Virginia 26263
