Norman Harold “Hal” Davis, Jr.

Norman Harold “Hal” Davis, Jr. passed away on September 14, 2015 at the age of 78.  He was born on July 1, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Opal and Norman Davis, Sr.

Hal is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maxine Meroney Davis, and four daughters Christie Lynn Davis of Atlanta; Cathy Davis Norred (Tim) of Charlotte, NC; Cindy Davis Dziwura (John) of Suwanee, GA; and Cheryl Davis Resnick (Jeff) of Greenwich, CT.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren:  Hanna and Davis Norred; Kinsey and Quinn Dziwura; and Annabelle, Grant and Lauren Resnick.

Hal graduated in 1955 from Murphy High School in Atlanta.  He was a 1959 graduate of The University of Georgia where he played football for the Dawgs from 1955 to1958.  He retired after serving 37 years in education.  Hal was a teacher and coach at East Atlanta High, assistant principal at Clarkston High and as principal for 14 years at Chamblee High School.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and educator who had a passion for the outdoors.

A memorial service will be held for Hal Davis at 1 o’clock on Saturday, September 19^th, at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia.
