Ruth Kennedy Bowen

Mrs. Ruth Kennedy Bowen, age 80, formerly of Briarwood Drive, Toccoa passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Hartwell, Georgia.

A daughter of the late Ralph and Jewell Thomas Kennedy, she was born March 30, 1935 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived all her life. She was retired from Aeroquip with 15 years of service and also represented Avon for 20 years. She was a member of Toccoa Christian Church where she formerly served as a Children’s Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Bowen in 2006 and by three sisters, Glenda Moody, Sara Riddle and Mary Cash.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda “Cricket” Pressley of Toccoa, Sheila and Roger Rousey of Ashville, Tennessee and Liz and Bobby Davis of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Wendi Bowen of Eastanollee; grandchildren, Mallory Allen, Eli Rousey and Josh Pressley; brother, Hugh Kennedy of Toccoa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Charles Hicks, Ann and Dean Lathan and Buddy Cash all of Toccoa and Jim Moody of Cornelia.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 14, 11 O’clock AM in the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Brandon Crunkleton officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, John Bowen, Robert Bowen, Justin Bowen, Neil Allen, Trey Pressley and Eli Rousey.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Bowen, 2206 Eastanollee Road, Eastanollee and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 PM to 8 PM.
