Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Rev. Ronald Dale Abernathy, age 62 of Cleveland. Rev. Abernathy passed away Friday, November 13, 2015. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00am, Monday, November 16, 2015 at Cradle Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Abernathy, Rev. Junior Abernathy and Rev. Charles Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
A loving Husband, Daddy and Grandpa, Rev. Abernathy was born in White County on November 9, 1953 to Henrietta Whitlock Abernathy and the late Carlos Abernathy Sr. He owned and operated Abernathy Logging. As an ordained Baptist Minister, Rev. Abernathy pastored many churches in White and Lumpkin Counties over the years and 1999, he established Cradle Mountain Baptist Church, where he served as Pastor. In addition to his father, he is preceded death by his nephew, Chris Parker and sister in law, Peggy Abernathy.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Brenda Edge Abernathy of Cleveland; son, Stacy Abernathy ( Amy) of Helen; daughters, Lynn Winkler (Jody) of Helen, Lana Cook ( Kim) of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Chris Thomas, Skylar Cook, Madison Cook, Ethan Abernathy, Blake Cook and Kaitlyn Abernathy; mother, Henrietta Abernathy, Helen, brothers, Rev. Junior Abernathy ( Patricia), Dahlonega and Rev.Jimmy Abernathy, Helen; sisters, Judy Sutton ( Freddie), Cleveland, Linda Parker (Jerry), Cleveland. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
