James Vanus Braswell

James Vanus Braswell, age 90, of Jefferson, GA formerly of Buford, GA passed away Monday, December 7, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Birdie Lee Moore Braswell, sister, Virginia Braswell Justice, and brothers, Tom Braswell, Kelly Braswell, Dean Braswell, Allen Braswell. He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Helen Dodd Braswell, Jefferson, GA; children, Nell Braswell Maddox and husband, Carey Maddox, Jefferson, GA, Janice Braswell Maddox and husband, Ted Maddox, Jefferson, GA, Shirley Braswell Dawson, Winder, GA, Joe Braswell, Athens, GA, Jim Braswell, Braselton, GA; eleven grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great great-grandchildren; sisters in-law, Bernice Hosch Braswell, Buford, GA and Jean Braswell, Lawrenceville, GA; brother in-law, Ralph Dodd, Cumming, GA; and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Braswell was born August 2, 1925 in Buford, GA. He was a retired farmer who raised different kinds of vegetables and a member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Braswell and Rev. Richard Moon officiating. Interment will follow at Rock Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lawrenceville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
