Ronald Ernest "Ronnie" Porterfield

Funeral services for Ronald Ernest “Ronnie” Porterfield will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday afternoon, December 20, 2015 at the Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Anthony Shore.  Burial will follow at the Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gillsville, Georgia. 

Mr. Porterfield passed away December 16, 2015.   

Born March 16, 1947 in Athens, Georgia, he was the son of the late Ernest and Doris Hill Porterfield.  He was the father of the late Vera Larue Porterfield, and brother of the late Doug, Ray, Allen, and Wanda.  He was an employee of Wilbanks Lumber. He was a member of Amy’s Creek Baptist Church. 

He is survived by:  one daughter and son-in-law:  Mindy P. Garrett & Chris Ferguson, of Lula, Ga; one son and daughter-in-law:  Randy & Brenda Porterfield, of Demorest, Ga; one brother:  Danny Porterfield, Tallulah Falls, Ga; five sisters and brothers-in-law:  Dianne Whitley, Mt. Airy, Ga; Cindy & Joe Johnson, Mt. Airy, Ga; Brenda Kay Loudermilk, Cornelia, Ga; Betty Jean & Johnny Seabolt, Demorest, Ga; Pam Anderson, Cornelia, Ga; One sister-in-law:  Peggy Porterfield, Mt. Airy, Ga; Nine grandchildren; Nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 pm, and Saturday afternoon from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Hillside Memorial Chapel.
