Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 23, 2015 at Ward's Funeral Home Chapel for Melvin Leon Burson, age 74 of Dahlonega. The Rev. William “Bill” Towe will officiate. Interment will follow at the Smith/Burson Cemetery in Buford. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Burson passed away Sunday December 20, 2015.
Mr. Burson was born in Hall County to the late Barney Carl Burson and Cennie Avie Jarrard Burson. He was a member of the Blue Mountain #38 Masonic Lodge in Dahlonega where he was a 32 nd degree Mason and member of the Yarrab Shriners Atlanta Temple. He was preceded in death by his children, Ricky Lee Burson, Avie Mae Burson, brothers, Larry Burson, Charlie Smith, Gary Burson and sister, Vickie Wilcox.
Survivors include wife, Edna Burson, Dahlonega, son, Melvin Leon “Buck” Burson, Dahlonega, daughters, Nell LeVonda Burson, Dahlonega, daughters and sons-in-law, Edna LeiLani Burson and Tommy Wesley Grindle, Heather Joann Lewis and Randall Willie Summerour, brothers, Dwayne Smith, Cleveland, Dwight Smith, Cleveland, sisters, Doris Wehunt, Dawsonville, Pat Ransom, Dawsonville, sister and brother-in-law, Anita and James Smith, Cleveland, sister, Carolyn Anderson, Maysville, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.
